The worldwide sports industry is worth more than 600 billion USD, and shows constant growth, but even so athletes face problems funding their training and participation in worldwide competitions, especially those who are up-and-coming and are just at the beginning of their professional career. Many athletes depend exclusively on institutions that control financing in sports.

It also matters where you are born. If you skate, or play soccer, in The Netherlands, you will have no problem funding your career. But if you are the winner of the Eisenhower Cup in golf, both in the individual competition and with your Dutch Golf team, you don’t even get an invitation to the European Golf tour. This would be unthinkable for an athlete from the United States of America, Korea, Japan or Great Britain.

Athletes Funding wants to even the odds for the athletes . With the launch of the Athletes Token, we will enable a wider community to invest in sports, giving both fans and potential investors the tools to directly participate financially in the sports career of our athletes. This provides Athletes with access to the Global Market by creating an international sports crowdfunding platform.

During our first year, we will be focusing on talent in the Golf Sport. We start by selecting athletes from the top 200 players of the World Amateur Golf ranking and from the players ranked between 500 and 1000 on the Official World Golf Ranking. In future, we will also assist other sports disciplines.
