About Anthropology VU Amsterdam

The department of Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam aims to understand cultural diversity in an increasingly globalized world.

We study the fruitful and meaningful encounters between people of different cultural backgrounds, as well as the tensions and clashes that go with them. In doing so, we explore the economic, political and social dynamics of societies around the world. Our staff is actively engaged in research and teaching students on these topics.
