Het plaatsen van deze slimme apparaten wordt ook wel huis-automatisering genoemd of ook bekend onder de Engelse naam Domotica. AmsEdi specialiseert zich alleen op producten en diensten die werken met de HomeKit standaard van Apple computers. Domotica is een samentrekking van de Latijnse woord Domus en het suffix -itica, wat vrij vertaald kan worden als Huis-Automatisering.
