About Academy for Mindful Teaching

The Foundation Academy for Mindful Teaching has been founded by Eline Snel and trains professionals from education and (mental) healthcare in the ‘Method Eline Snel' also know as Mindfulness Matters, mindfulness for children and adolescents, parents and teachers. The training courses are given in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Latin America and Hong Kong.

The Academy has developed several training programmes and four handbooks for different age categories, from 5 to 19 years of age. Because children aged between 4 and 7 proved to need different meditations and work formats to children aged between 8 and 12. This is also true for the differences between 13-year-old adolescents and 19-year-old youths. These handbooks for trainers are used in many schools. Both in primary and secondary education, and in mental health organisations, revalidation centres and private practices. Thousands of children have now followed the ‘Mindfulness Matters’ training. The Academy for Mindful Teaching also developed the Mindfulness in Education program for parents and teachers.

In addition to the four training handbooks used in the courses, Eline also developed two multilingual meditation apps for children in multiple languages, an Attention Work(s) book for children (2019), The Flying Frog (Air France uses this app and her book Sitting Still Like a Frog for the 150,000 children who travel alone by plane on long-haul flights each year), the trainers course Mindfulness in Education, and an accompanying workbook for teachers and parents.

Also for teachers and parents, Eline wrote the books Sitting Still Like a Frog (2010), of which more than 1 million copies are sold) and Breath Through This (2014). These books are published in 42 countries and 30 languages. After that she has also written the book for parents from toddlers called The Little Frog Awakes (2021).
