About 1m2 Collective

We are 1m2 collective and we are looking for designers to join our mission! Our goal is to create exhibitions that give stage to as much upcoming design talent as possible and in turn opens the conversation about the financial barrier of participating in design festivals.

Ask yourself: How inclusive are design festivals? With the costs of presenting your work at design festivals out of reach for many upcoming designers, how can we make this process more inclusive and visualise the true costs of participating?

1m2 Collective is an interdisciplinary platform to unite new design talent and highlight changes needed in the professional design field. Through positive protest, and provocative research we aim to stimulate the conversation about how to create a more inclusive design industry. What we’ve come up with (so far!): As result of our first action, 1m2 collective displayed 18 designers in 1m2 of ground space at the Van Abbe Museum during DDW '21. These works were carefully selected by an independent jury out of 40 applicants.
