Over Writing Better Code

As a researcher, you’re spending a lot of your time wrestling with computer software. Chances are, you write your own code, for analysis, simulation, or for instrument control. Unfortunately, you likely haven’t received much training in programming, beyond one or two introductory courses in your undergrad years. This means you have missed out on essential tools and skills that would make your programming work less frustrating, and much less time-consuming.

In May 2014, we launched our two-day course "Writing Better Code"​ to help scientists save time in their programming work. Since then, over 100 PhD student, primarily in physics, have been using the skills they picked up during our course to stay organized, prevent bugs, and be more effective.
