Over WEquality

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women states that "Discrimination against women violates the principles of equality of rights and respect for human dignity, is an obstacle to the participation of women in the political, social, economic and cultural life of their countries, hampers the growth of the prosperity of society and the family and makes more difficult the full development of the potentialities of women in the service of their countries and of humanity."However, women are still underrepresented at top functions in business, politics and education. For example in the corporate sector the percentage of women at the top is only 15-16%. These numbers have not moved since 2002. How did these numbers arise? But most importantly how do we change them?

We are WEquality, a project team related to UM's Premium Programme. Aim of our project is to convince companies of the benefits of gender equality in the workforce, because even nowadays gender equality in business is still a problem!
