Indoor farming is essential for the resilience of inner cities. This new way of food production combines high tech with traditional agricultural skills. In a controlled environment it is possible to produce high quality crops 365 days a year. We do this without pesticides or fertilisers and bring water usage back to less than 5% of traditional agriculture. By growing inside the cities we re-establish the link between producer and consumer. Local food is so much more that cutting down food-milage. UpTown Greens is both an indoor farmer as a reseller of hardware for other farmers. We aim to build a community in Leiden and surroundings to promote local fresh food production.
