The meat- and dairy processing industries in Georgia are fully equipped to sell their products in the local market, but the purchasing power of this market is limited. In order to further develop this industry, to innovate its production methods and to grow its profits, it is inevitable for the involved companies to go abroad. The meat processing and dairy sector have a lot of potential, but the production and quality of the products will have to be improved.

DEEP AND COMPREHENSIVE FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

The EU has concluded the ‘Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement’ with Georgia (a.o.). This means that in time European products will be available to the Georgian market. Georgian producers are bound to compete in their home market with products of better quality and a constant supply. Products that, in addition, comply with EU-standards in respect to packaging, storage, production, environment etc. That’s why it is of fatal importance to Georgian companies to start with the improvement of the quality of their products and the further professionalisation of their productions processes now. The intention is to realise these goals with Dutch knowledge, processing equipment and machines.

GOAL OF THE MISSION During one week the Georgian delegation will visit several Dutch companies and attend trainings to:

-Gain knowledge and experience of the complete chain; -Gain insights in the treatment of raw materials (dairy, chicken, pork and beef); -Learn about new technologies and innovations, with focus on the improvement of efficiency and productivity.

This mission offers Georgian and Dutch entrepreneurs in the meat- and dairy processing industries an opportunity to explore the possibilities of cooperation and subcontracting.
