The Five Rhythms The Five Rhythms was developed by Gabriëlle Roth. Her love for dancing, movement and working with people gave her the insight that the five rhythms can be seen and recognised in all aspects of life. The Five Rhythms is a form of dancing consisting of 5 different phases, starting with Flowing with its circular and continuous movements. This rhythm flows into Staccato with its clear and fiery energy. In Chaos these two rhythms fuse, asking you to surrender and let go of every form of control. Once we have given all of ourselves to this rhythm the next one, Lyrical, will naturally follow with its playfulness, light like a child’s. Eventually everything will dissolve into the emptiness of Stillness, the silence of motion and the simplicity of ‘being’. Together these rhythms are called a Wave, and after every wave comes another and another… Everyone can dance them..
