Welcome to Studio Greta Facchinato – a space where art, ecology, and research intertwine. Founded by multidisciplinary artist and designer Greta Desirèe Facchinato (IT/LU), the studio explores the interconnectedness of plants, ecosystems, and living organisms through a holistic and sustainable approach.

Living between The Netherlands and Italy, Greta holds a Master’s in Artistic Research from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), and a Bachelor’s in Visual and Performance Arts, specializing in sculpture, from the Academy of Fine Arts Venice. Her work reimagines materials—such as ink—as living matter, rooted in regeneration, ecology, and reciprocity. Through diverse mediums and the investigation of everyday gestures and materials, she invites an embodied awareness of life's interconnectedness.

In 2021, she launched Color is Alive, an ongoing exploration of our relationship with color through ecosystem-driven approaches and bio-based ink-making, particularly in printing techniques. This research reveals color as something alive—fragile yet transformative—offering new possibilities for ecological creation.

Collaboration is central to the studio’s practice. Working with botanists, scientists, researchers, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and fellow artists, designers, and artisans, Studio Greta Facchinato fosters experimentation and interdisciplinary dialogue. These exchanges provide fertile ground to rethink conventional practices, explore new possibilities, and engage deeply with the stories of materials and ecosystems.

A significant part of the studio’s work is dedicated to education and knowledge-sharing. Greta has lectured at Hortus Botanicus Leiden and ERG Brussels and has curated workshops for diverse age groups, inviting participants to engage with natural materials, creative processes, and sustainable practices.
