Over Studio Gionata Gatto

Gionata Gatto (1982) is an Italian designer, living and working between Italy (Venice), the Netherlands (Rotterdam) and the UAE (Dubai). After a bachelor in industrial design at IUAV, he continued his studies at Design Academy Eindhoven, where he got his MDes in 2009. In 2019 Gionata obtained a PhD in Design from the University of Loughborough, UK. A continuous experimentation with materials and production processes, mediated by the use of emerging technologies, are fundamental aspects motivating his research praxis. Winding between collaboration of different research areas, Gionata’s design work emerge as a result of a participatory and speculative research method, to breed a territory of transdisciplinary synergy. From the active phase, he derives series of artefacts and installations that perform as perceptual bridges to generate -through the instruments of the present- visions about speculative future scenarios. In 2019, Gionata joined the design department of DIDI as Assistant Professor in design, developing the school’s curriculum of Product Design.
