Over Stichting Ontmoet Kentzou

The association 'Ontmoet Kentzou' is connected to the community of the village Kentzou in east Cameroon. Kentzou has 15,000 inhabitants and is located on the border with the Central African Republic (CAR). Due to the problems in the CAR, there are around 20,000 refugees in Kentzou. We work with a local partner organization on a multi-year plan for the development of Kentzou. We wanted to contribute in the form of concrete projects from the plan. We started with their ambition to built the Technical Lyceum in Kentzou, the only form of secondary education, so that their youth can receive education in their own city. At the Technical Lyceum they train students to become electricians, contractors, construction workers and accountants and they learn ICT skills. Exactly those professions that are necessary for the development of their own city. The lyceum is aimed at youth aged 12-18. We support the project with knowledge and by raising funds. Our foundation is called 'Meet Kentzou' because in all our efforts we mutually exchange knowledge and try to inspire and help each other. Principles: - Needs formulated by the people themselves - Equality - Long-term relationship Accountability Stichting Ontmoet Kentzou sees it as its obligation to spend all the funds raised on the projects. This means that, for example, travel costs for working visits to Cameroon are paid by board members and volunteers themselves. We believe it is important that donors are well informed about how their contributions are spent.

With the support of Wilde Ganzen and the students of Veritas - Lamento classrooms have been built. Current projects focus on equipment, solar panels, ICT training and transport.
