Over Spegt - met de g van groei

In 2017 4 entrepeneurs founded Spegt. "With the 'g' of growth". Ambition was to found a physical innovation hub in Apeldoorn, in the centre of the Netherlands.

After a few iterations and projects we learned that the 4hood that we had in mind, although on paper very complimentary, proved to be diffuse in practice.

As good friends and colleagues we decided to dissolve Spegt and continue our collaboration on looser ad hoc basis. We still work together on projects today.

This is how innovation works: A. Clearly shape your plan into a business model and pinpoint your main assumptions. If you can: do not spend ages planning, researching and desk top working. Try to move to B. B. Set up an 'experiment' that enables you to test your most critical assumptions (but will not 'kill' you if it does not work out!). In our case: we built Spegt C. Execute the experiment. Monitor the outcomes D. Learn. Keep an open mind. Alo if the outcoms is not what you hope for. Act. Rigidly.

Every experiment can have 4 possible outcomes: 1/ Great result ! >> Proceed to next phase 2/ Hmm. We think it will work but we need some more confirmation >> Proceed testing (maybe alter the test set up) 3/ Hmm. Some elemants seem to work. Some not >> Pivot. Reshape your concept and test again 4/ No. Doesn't work >> Stop. Back to the drawing board.

In our case we came to conclusion number four. Honestly? Yes this hurts. Challenge is though to also celebrate this as a success!
