smart | dairy is an international organization located in the Netherlands. smart | dairy provides affordable modular high-tech dairy farming units to smallholder farmers in developing countries to help them to produce high quality milk, generate income and become sustainable. These standardized modular farms, the Farm-in-the-Box™ (FitB™) is a so called plug and play dairy farming unit capable of housing up to twenty-five cows and can be fully operational within a week (excluding cows). The farm size is designed to be operated by a farming family. The company focuses on high growth emerging markets, operating with local joint venture partners to set up dairy hubs. The goal of the company is to develop and improve smallholder milk production in these regions by providing access to market, technology and to finance these through a debt fund. The company aims to produce above market returns for its investors.
