Over Shirdak

Shirdak is a gallery of modern and tribal nomad textiles, situated on one of the most beautiful canals, the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. Shirdak works in the wholesale and retail business, with workshops of craftsmen in Central Asia on a fair trade base. The owner of Shirdak and former Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan, Marianne Tuerlings, frequently travels to Central Asia to collect all products in the shop.

We have the largest collection of felted rugs from Kyrgyzstan in Europe. Besides that we also have a big amount of cushions, wall hangings and bedspreads from Central Asia. Our collection of 'Nomad fashion' is influenced by the nomadic culture; our hats, shawls and linen apparel are all handmade, traditionally produced and locally sourced.
