We are Rethinking Economics NL, a network of students, academics and passionate thinkers coming together to diversify and reinvigorate economics. We strive for diversity in economic thinking and are inclusive to students and scholars from different academic backgrounds. We are open-minded and respectful towards others’ viewpoints, strengthened in the humble awareness that no one has a monopoly on the truth. Our aim is to support and facilitate change in economics curricula, to inspire divergent economists to engage with one another in fruitful debate, to educate ourselves in a more reflective economics, and to demystify economics in the public eye. We intend to achieve our goals by organizing regular meetings, seminars and debates; by supporting local groups and initiatives; by publishing diverse content on a variety of platforms; and by investigating the way economic knowledge is produced and taught today. Pluralism in economics is the way forward, and will enable us and society to effectively tackle the challenges we face. We are part of a broader global movement of students and professors, Rethinking Economics and the International Student Initiative for Pluralism in Economics (ISIPE), that is collectively working towards significant reforms in economics education worldwide.
