Rap[id] offers high quality services in the field of scientific research and education in qualitative and mixed methods, research design and publication. Key activities are currently two academic courses, while professional trainings and consultancies will follow:

Qualitative Research Methods and Analysis ‘Qualitative Research Methods & Analysis’ is an introductory course, which assists researchers and professionals who are designing a research project with a qualitative or mixed methods component. It focuses on practical as well as theoretical issues implied in the empirical research cycle. Candidates reflect on the logic-in-use of their research, iteratively adjust empirical data collection and analytical strategies practiced in the study of everyday life. The course consists of 7 (on- or offline) modules (of 3-4 hours) which focus on participants’ needs. In each part, participants will improve their own research design and strategies for data collection, - recording, and - analysis. An experienced researcher provides individual feedback on research design & methodological plans, which are finally presented and debated in the group.

Publishing Qualitative Research: From analysis to submission After empirical data collection, qualitative researchers often experience a void or block to move to analysis and publication. This course intends to support researchers at that stage, by helping to identify a suitable analytical and publication strategy to follow. Currently, PhD supervisors often lack the time to take junior researchers through this process step-by-step. Participants are asked to produce a draft to present to and discuss with their colleagues. At the end of the course, PhD researchers will have completed a draft thesis chapter and are trained to go forward and publish these findings in a scientific article or book chapter. Sessions will be led by an experienced researcher with a track record of publication.
