Welcome to the Poelman site of unique wood composite, light weight urban bicycles and fixed gear bicycles (fixies, single speeds). 'Wood is warm. Wood is alive.' The Poelman bicycle is the result of years of cycling in the city and outside the city. But also thousands of kilometres on prototypes of the Poelman bicycle under different weather conditions. We wanted to make a bicycle: - which is light weight and which runs easily and is easy to lift. - with virtually no maintenance. - with a minimum of components (because the more components, the more maintenance and the more that can break). - without a dirty steel chain, from which your hands or your clothes can get dirty. - with a driving system which does not need maintenance and does not get dirty. - which let you do decide faster to leave your car at home. - with quality components. We wanted to make a bicycle to be used: - with pleasure to do some shopping. - to go to your work. - to go to the pub to take a beer (or something else) with your friends. - for a ride to improve your physical condition and to enjoy the weather and the landscape you live in. - in order to be a good alternative to your car, so that you can contribute in many ways to improve your own environment and that of others. But above all: - a bicycle that looks vintage and looks nice and therefore with wood. - a bicycle with a wow factor. The result: the Poelman bicycle.
