Passionate About Cars is an automotive YouTube channel and digital platform, born from the brain of Matt aka Matthijs Viel. From reviewing the latest and greatest vehicles to hitting the road and discovering the untold stories of classic cars, resto-mods, and everything in between, this channel and digital platform is your one-stop-shop for all things car-related.

From a Young Age: The Start of Passion for Cars

As a child, Matt was always fascinated by trains and cars. But it wasn't until he received a BMW steering wheel as a birthday present at the age of 11 that the true passion for cars truly ignited. Little did he know that this gift would set him on a lifelong journey of discovery and appreciation for the world of automobiles. Yes, an awkward present to receive as a teenager looking back at it. Now they've got all the bells and whistles, like force feedback and USB-C connection.

Matt's first choice of car brand wasn't really affected by the present at all, despite receiving a BMW steering wheel on his 11th birthday. He went on to choose a BMW 316i, 2-door in Alpinweiss (E30). The irony is not lost on him, but he couldn't resist the allure of driving a Bimmer, even if it had fewer options than his bicycle. He even named his dog Bimmer.

In the last decade, Matt developed an eye for car brands outside Bavaria. With a classic car of his own, he has come to appreciate the unique beauty of cars from the 60s and 70s, as well as contemporary models.
