Over Our Daily Bread Ukraine

Our Daily Bread is a Dutch charity helping Ukrainians build stronger futures through locally led change.

We started in 2020 with one project in Bakhmut: repairing a rehabilitation centre and helping it become financially sustainable. That still shapes our work today. Lasting change begins by listening to those who know their communities best.

That first partnership became many more. We work through trusted Ukrainian leaders, churches, and community organisations, listening, building relationships, and investing in ideas that strengthen communities from within. We keep learning from our partners and sharing what works.

We call these investments Drops of Hope: small, practical projects that help people move from surviving to living, from receiving to giving, and from isolation to connection.

Today, our work spans five projects: Frontline stands with communities when war arrives at their doorstep. Fuel4Change keeps fuel flowing so compassion reaches those who need it most. Future4Kids trains caregivers to help war-traumatised children heal. Home Front equips military chaplains to keep soldiers human. Livelihoods helps families rebuild independence through food, income, and small enterprise.

Underneath all five is the same shift: helping people move from passive to proactive, supporting each other toward healthier lives. As our Fuel4Change partner Volodymyr Avilova puts it: "The biggest challenge is changing mindsets. Many people have a passive outlook on life. We encourage a proactive attitude and support one another in healthier lives."

Examples are emotional support for women in Kremenchuk whose husbands are missing in action, income from chickens in Oleksandrivka, training for children's workers, fuel for military chaplains to stay on the road, and creative therapy for a frontline community in the Donbas.

We continue to grow one relationship at a time, helping local ideas take root across Ukraine.
