Over Not without the Rose

Not without the Rose is a Workspace for Social Sculpture. In a close collaboration between art and pedagogy we facilitate open ateliers that foster a collective learning proces. Joseph Beuys’ concept of Soziale Plastik, or social sculpture, offers the artistic ground for the work we do. Beuys (2010) proposed that “everyone is an artist,” meaning that all human actions participate in shaping the social organism. We are artist facilitating collective learning processes and pedagoges dealing with social complexity.

We create spaces for embodied inquiry, where action and reflection happen together. We work slowly, deliberately, and in response to what emerges. For us praxis is the ongoing movement between experience and reflection, between what we do and how we understand it. We do not create a fixed method or a step-by-step process. It is a way of entering into relationship with others, with the institution, and with the social field that holds us.
