I am a counseling psychologist from the United States (Los Angeles, California) and have been living in the Netherlands since 2011. I work in Den Haag and Amsterdam, mainly with the expat/international community, but not exclusively. I am a registered therapist at the Register Beroepsbeoefenaren Complementaire Zorg (RBCZ), a member of the Algemene Beroepsvereniging van Counseling (ABvC) and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Therapy is not easily described in general terms; it often varies depending on the clients and the issues brought forward. Therefore, my approach to therapy will always depend on the client and the issues being addressed. Since each person is unique, often a new therapy is developed for every case. I work in an integrative and humanistic manner and will readily employ different psychological approaches in my work. My aim is to help clients develop a stronger and healthier sense of self. I am most fond of the person-centered or Rogerian approach and existential approaches.

In my practice I work with adults and adolescents from the age of 16+. I offer individual, couple and group sessions. I have received training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy and I am continuing further with this training to become a Gottman Certified Therapist. I have a particular interest in working with concerns of sexual functioning, sexual pleasure, and alternative sexualities and relationship styles.

One of my personal goals as a therapist is to help normalize and de-stigmatize the act of going to therapy. There should be nothing shameful or embarrassing in seeking help; in fact, I believe it is rather courageous to do so. I am a firm believer that we all possess the strength and ability to navigate through the journey of life, but with all journeys, they are often much better taken with the help and guidance of someone else.
