BUas is proud to call itself the first educational institute in the Netherlands to offer a specialization in esports management. Breda University recognizes esports’ great potential and has its sight set on becoming a long-term educator for this burgeoning industry.

BUas considers itself particularly well-suited and equipped for the task of educating future esports professionals. Breda University’s expertise in the domains of games, concept creation, imagineering, experience design, event management, marketing, branding, and media design makes it the perfect candidate to pioneer a unique brand of esports teaching. The minor’s overall learning objective will be to teach students about the ins and outs of the esports industry itself and to develop the competencies necessary to manage esports in its many forms. Moreover, students will be challenged to create, manage, and innovate in such a way that they can be the link between different domains in order to create a blended (online and on-site) experience.

For our esports education to have a maximum long-term impact on students, industry and institute alike, the program has been grounded in a professional learning community. Our esports learning community allows all stakeholders to learn from and with each other. The esports industry is therefore deeply involved through a host of different partnerships in which learning together is the shared goal. One of the advantages of this learning community is that all stakeholders are invested in the learning process for the long term. Such long-term commitments lead to developing networks with strong ties between the educational institute and the industry, making it possible to together shape the leading esports managers of tomorrow.
