Mexart is a company that aims to give greater recognition to traditional Mexican crafts in the global market. Although some of these handcrafts have grown in popularity in the last decade due to pop culture, social media or the exposure given by American mainstream channels; most of Mexico’s crafts still remain undervalued, under-appreciated or simply unknown. More than a simple crafts merchant, Mexart seeks to become a reference in quality Mexican art-0crafts; cherry picking the best artisans, to deliver a range of high standard objects, as unique and carefully crafted as any work of art. There is currently a great need to differentiate the typical travel souvenir or handcrafted trinket from unique art-crafts and sophisticated pieces of artisan craftsmanship. This not only aims to recognize the skills of a particular craftsman, it generates added value to the knowledge and expertise on ancient techniques, and it standardizes the value of work, which is desperately needed for artisans to bring their lifestyles to the 21st century, with a fair retribution for their work. It is the direct connection between the retailer and the artisan through Mexart that allows a first hand connection and clear tracing, quality control and authenticity of objects in their different crafting disciplines.
