Over LIVES Litter free rivers and streams

The LIVES project consists of 4 work packages: an extensive analysis of the current waste situation in the Meuse and its tributaries (1), taking measures to reduce the amount of waste, such as clean-up actions and the installation of five different types of waste catchers (2), cross-border agreements between governments (3) and communication (4). Although there are already several initiatives at local level, LIVES wants to encourage a more coherent cross-border approach. A website will be available in the fall of 2020. 50% of the available 1.5 million euros for this project is provided by the EU (Interreg V-A). The LIVES partners form a broad alliance between regional governments and stakeholders: Province of Limburg (NL), Waterschap Limburg (NL), Rijkswaterstaat-Ministry of Infrastructure and Water (NL), Flemish Environment Agency (BE), Public Flemish Waste Agency (BE), The Vlaamse Waterweg (BE), Eifel-Rur Water Board (GER), Zuyd Hogeschool (NL), Open University (NL), RWTH Aachen University (GER). We therefore communicate in three languages: Dutch, German and French.
