Over Letterspace Amsterdam

Letterspace is a platform based in Amsterdam, and since 2018 it has been hosting a monthly series of lectures on experimentation, innovation, and research in type.

Next to these monthly lectures, Letterspace is also a co-working space for four independent type designers — Sabina Chipară, Jolana Sýkorová, Edgar Walthert, and Céline Jouandet — with substantial experience in drawing, producing, and engineering typefaces.

As hosts, we are interested in expanding the more traditional definitions of type (design) established within educational programs and institutions. We are excited to welcome a lively and diverse group of artists, designers, and researchers to explore type in Amsterdam.

The lectures are free and open to the public. Experts, non-experts, type enthusiasts, writers, and design students may be especially interested in joining.
