Behavioural needs

Cats have specific behavioural needs that need to be met to make them truly happy and satisfied. It is the mission of the Kattengedragsadviesbureau (KGA) to spread knowledge to make all cats happy and satisfied. The outcome of research done on this subject learns us that sometimes people might think that their cat is happy, but from the cats perspective this is not always the case. Cats are very good in masking the signs of that, so they are easily misunderstood. The KGA wants to spread science based and cat friendly knowledge, so that cats can be better taken care of and will become happier cats. There’s more to it than scooping out litter boxes: we want to make cats happy when we take care of them.

Taking cat friendly care

Playing makes cats very happy, and we always will try to play with them. Our experience learns that even cats that are known to be not so fond of playing, will play with us. Therefore you need to provide toys like the Flying Frenzy, balls and laces for example, so we can have lots of fun with your cat. If cats like to be petted we will pet them too.

When your cat needs coat care we will help him in a cat friendly and non-invasive way. This means we only comb when your cat has tangles that need to be taken care of or is shedding a lot. We take care of the coat in a cat friendly way: so not irritating or frightening the cat. Tangles are formed in most cases by underlying medical problems that need to be addressed.

Some cats that aren’t properly socialized don’t like us to stay long. When cats cannot adept so easily to another caretaker, we will give them time to adept en get to know us. For some cats this means that in the beginning we cannot play with them, but we will try to make fun with them. For other cats this means that they might need some time to get to know us as safe persons. This can mean we will go when the cat wants us out of your house. Gladly, this is seldom the case. A report on your cats behaviour towards the cat sitter is mentioned on the daily report.

The KGA Kattenoppasservice cat sitters are highly skilled professionals and educated in taking care of cats, so they can advice you on enhancing the welfare of your cat.
