Over INTRICARE Network EU

INTRICARE - International Network for Training on Risks of Vascular Intimal Calcification and roads to Regression of Cardiovascular Disease is a project funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Innovative Training Network (ITN). INTRICARE coordinates research and training collaboration among leading academic institutions and the industrial sector within Europe, offering joint research training at the PhD level. The program consists of 15 Early Stage Research (ESR) projects which provide state-of-the-art training to the new generation of scientists that will be excellently skilled to contribute to the understanding of vulnerable plaque formation, with a particular focus on microcalcification, and to develop innovative solutions for the early prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of atherosclerosis. In collaboration with leading institutes and companies in the fields of calcification, atherosclerosis, imaging, and nutraceutical and pharmaceutical cardiovascular strategies, the 15 ESRs will engage in network-wide training events, public engagement activities and international collaboration through secondments, at industrial or academic partner institutions within the European Union.

INTRICARE is coordinated and managed by Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM), one of the six schools of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML) of Maastricht University and is embedded within the Maastricht University Medical Center+ (Maastricht UMC+).
