Over Hornbook

We are a couple of software developers and teachers based in Amsterdam. We offer workshops, coaching and consulting.

Currently we are working on a software product for teachers to help them understand which parts of their teaching is difficult for their students. The tool features interactive presentations with rich content (text, images, videos) interleaved with challenges for students. Challenges are designed to engage students by giving them instant feedback (Was the answer correct? If not - why?) and help retain knowledge (learn, do, repeat). Teachers can author, share or use existing decks. The decks can be used live during lesson, webinar, etc. (like a slide show) or by sharing a link with students and asking them to exercise the deck at their discretion (like a homework). Teachers also have option to monetize by offering paid access to their decks.

Our system collects aggregated data about students' performance and presents it to teachers in nice and intuitive dashboard. There teachers can see which challenges were most difficult for students. Later they can use those insights to focus on relevant parts of their teaching. There is also an integrated editor for decks.
