We have discovered that aging people with low levels of a specific cytokine tend to live happier, healthier lives.

The production of this inflammatory cytokine called interleukin (IL)-1ß increases while we age. This process, called inflammaging or garbaging, is a big threat to our health.

Since two years there is level 1 clinical evidence that lowering (IL)-1ß) prevents gout, arthritis and cancer in humans. In research animals lowering IL-1ß also prevents hypertension, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. What is more, centenarians, people who reach the age of a hundred while still healthy, have low levels of IL-1ß.

The problem is that there are currently no products on the market that can lower IL-1ß in healthy people.

HLXTH has found a unique plant-derived chalcone that lowers IL-1ß in human macrophages and prevents plaque formation in an Alzheimer’s mouse model.

Based on this proprietary chalcone we are developing XTND-01. World’s first functional food product that lowers IL-1ß.
