Funk to the Max initially started in 1999 as a concept of funk parties in the Melkweg (Amsterdam), sponsored by Pepsi. By the end of 2001 Funk to the Max Records was born, a record label specialized in releasing alternative and/or rare recordings from established and new funk artists.
