The purpose of Cities of Love (NL) is to become a city leader in the ongoing and forward-looking planning for city-orientated cultural development. This mission is commenced with a firm foot in the film industry, and spreads throughout the cultural planes of the cities in which we operate. Cities of Love (NL) has chosen Rotterdam as the first and most ideal city in which to execute its mission. Cities need promotion and ideas, and they attract talent from both the Benelux and abroad. The Benelux film industry needs supporters with long-term goals: cities are here to stay and they attract more investment. Our city-driven film approach aims at creating a win-win situation for the city and its inhabitants, both here at home and around the world. Our future is urban, and cities are facing a huge challenge. Their impact, our impact, already affects our ecosystem and destroys living species everyday. The way we handle our urban development will determine our future as human beings - our very survival. If our future lies in cities, if we love our cities, if we love in our cities, then we should take care of them and take care of others. Our future is urban, and our creativity is already urban. The harmonious development of eco-cities is driven by technological innovation in resource management and environment, infrastructure, economy and industry; it is definitely driven by trade, coöperation and exchanges around different cities. It should also be driven by our cultural and creative industries. Creation has impact and can serve the purpose of eco-city development: we have to create a new life for ourselves and this is inspiring for filmmakers, artists, creators, and - for our first efforts - Rotterdammers as a whole. By pursuing our objectives we will develop a multi-layered and extensive movement/platform that both looks towards and conveys (to the world) the future of the city.
