Eco Cycle Systems is the fully automated underground bicycle parking system designed and developed by Giken Developments in Japan. With over ten years of continuous service in Japanese cities, ECS is introducing this remarkable proven technology to Europe. Eco Cycle is a fully automated solution for the mass storage of bicycles. With the growing number of cyclists and urban space coming at a premium, traditional storage methods are inadequate to absorb the total quantity of bicycles and satisfy the growing number of cyclists who require sheltered and secure storage. Eco Cycle units store two hundred bicycles per unit below or above the ground, with a retrieval time of just 13 seconds. Whether installed in urban public space or integrated into the architecture of new public and commercial buildings it provides the ideal solution for the mass storage of bicycles. The underground bicycle storage units consist of a cylinder with a diameter of 8 meters and a depth of 12 meters. At street level the bicycle is placed in a parking slot from where it is taken into a box with dimensions that are slightly larger than the bike. From there it is taken down the central core of the system by a robotic lift and parked into one of the two hundred slots on one of the several available levels. Above ground storage units are also available. Both the above and underground units can be realised as stand alone units or can be integrated in the façade of a building.
