Over Creating Rights
Our website is under maintenance, as well as our Linkedin page. In September 2026, a new website will be launched, with a renewed vision and mission statement. Stay tuned!
Creating Rights explores bridges between Art and Human Rights. We believe that Art has the potential to open up a space for communication and exchange and create an opportunity for reflection on Human Rights and International Law beyond normalized frameworks.
As a powerful form of expression, art contributes to the understanding and the implementation of internationally recognized Human Rights. Since its inception, the Human Rights movement has evolved and paved the way towards a comprehensive body of laws, conventions and treaties. This framework is both protecting and resulting from the dedication and hard work of all actors in the field, including artists, activists, and expert practitioners across different countries. As such, they have a crucial role in our societies in contributing to the ongoing discussion on strengthening the Human Rights project.
To this end, through a network of volunteers and experts bringing their invaluable skills, Creating Rights operates and supports projects such as conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and performances. On a day-to-day basis, publications and information are shared on Creating Rights website and social media platforms.
Creating Rights acts as a hub, gathering and spreading knowledge and reflections and creating a network of expert practitioners in the interdisciplinary field of Art and Human Rights, and opening the field to broader audiences. Sharing knowledge and experiences, learning from practitioners and researchers in their fields of interest, and bringing support to artists, activists and other professionals are at the forefront of Creating Rights’ strategy.
