Over Contact Amsterdam

Contact is a collective of interdisciplinary creative minds in the West of Amsterdam. In this HOUSE OF CREATORS, we host studios for more than 100 artists, makers and designers from multiple disciplines and backgrounds. Our community members share a fully equipped MAKERSPACE where various machines, traditional and digital fabrication tools are available: 3D printers, laser-cutters, CNC-milling machine, woodworking machines, format saw, kiln, etc.

Contact is also an event venue and space: we rent meeting rooms and a beautiful theatre, equipped with a 16.2 state-of-the-art spatial sound system by 4DSOUND. We have a vegetarian restaurant on-site called LFTOVR. We also regularly organize creative workshops and events!

With all these various tools and amazing talents under one roof, we believe that we can transform any sketch or idea into reality. Our main goal is to foster crossover collaborations and projects encouraging innovation, creative problem-solving and critical making. At Contact, these multiple disciplines come together in one community – a House of Creators – but what’s the best way to ensure that these disciplines find and strengthen each other, and that they can approach a ‘problem’ collectively from multiple perspectives? That’s what critical making entails. The meeting of these diverse makers and designers is our core business. We want to explore the collaborations which already exist or could still arise.
