Che Amigo is a Dutch foundation that develops vulnerable communities in South America by offering a leadership program to local organisations and youth: 'Liderazgo en mi Comunidad' (Leadership in my Community).

Our expert leadership trainers developed the entire program in cooperation with local communities. It is captured in a step-by-step manual which makes it easier for the local organisation to fully incorporate the program and become leadership trainers themselves. The program is dynamic, interactive, profound & fun and can be adapted to local needs and circumstances.

We at Che Amigo are convinced that facilitation and coaching is an effective way to achieve sustainable development. Our mission is to support projects that are initiated by local communities and in which these communities play a lead role in executing the project. We aim to involve local foundations and organisations as much as possible in our activities. That makes our program sustainable: when the Che Amigo trainers leave an area after 1.5 years, the local organisation is able to continue the program by itself. We remain coaching from a distance if necessary.

Che Amigo raises funds in the Netherlands and so far offered its program in various communities in Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru. There are plans of expanding the program to the African continent as well.

Founder Jasper Wegman is currently writing a book about his experiences of 10 years community development in South America with Che Amigo, to be published in Q3 of 2018.

In 2011, Che Amigo won the Social Ambassador Award 2011 in Argentina.
