Over Biodesign Academy

Biodesign Academy is an independent practice working on biodesign in the age of AI. Part of that work is research. Part of it is writing about what the research turns up. Both are aimed at the people who teach, study, and investigate this field, not at the companies trying to sell into it.

The questions we care about are the ones design and education ask first. What does it mean to design with living systems now that AI sits in the middle of the work? What should students actually learn, and what's already out of date? Where does the hype end and the real practice begin?

We don't treat biology as a stock tip or AI as a miracle. We study both closely, from a design and research point of view, and we say what we think.

The research feeds a body of writing that goes out through our newsletter. Educators, students, design researchers, and institutions read it to stay oriented in a field that moves faster than any syllabus can keep up with.
