Over BioClock

Our biological clock is disrupted by the 24-hour society in which we now live. Within the BioClock consortium, researchers and societal partners from across the Netherlands will join forces to restore and preserve the health of the biological clock. The plans cover the whole of society: from human health and disease to the natural environment and the protection of biodiversity.

Topics such as shift work, optimal times for cancer immunotherapy and flu vaccinations, chronotherapy for depression, and the effects of light pollution on insects and other light-sensitive animals are all covered in our six-year research program funded by NWO.

Onze biologische klok raakt verstoord door de 24-uursmaatschappij waarin we nu leven. In het BioClock consortium gaan onderzoekers samenwerken met maatschappelijke partners om ervoor te zorgen dat de biologische klok gezond kan blijven. De plannen bestrijken de hele samenleving: van de gezondheid van mensen tot en met de levende natuur en het behoud van biodiversiteit. Dit project wordt, gedurende 6 jaar, gefinancierd door het Nationale Wetenschapsagenda (NWA-ORC) programma van de Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO).
