Over Become Anthropos

Experiences from childhood or acute traumatic events where we felt our safety was threatened or our needs were over-catered to or not met can lead to a particular perception of the world. This perception could make someone feel alien in the world, have difficulty forming and maintaining meaningful relationships, feel a sense of purposelessness, struggle to connect to their own needs or be unable to trust others fully.

This perception of the world developed as a survival mechanism needed to protect the child from greater physical or emotional harm. However, what once was protective eventually becomes a restriction, cutting an individual off from thoroughly enjoying life, disconnected from their vital life energy, and, as a result, their full expression of joy.

Somatic therapy aims to help these individuals by increasing their connection with their bodies and deeply held emotions in a safe and empowering way. By breaking through layers of body armouring- where our muscles are held in either a contracted or deactivated state- we release mental, emotional and physical blockages down to our central emotional and physical core.
