My special and unique way of working is called paper cut drawings. 'Carien starts in a classical way with a sketch on paper but she gets away from the plane by remodelling her drawings into papercuts: she accurate cuts away the empty space from her drawings, after that she pins up the drawings, at some distance of the beare so that it creates a physical depth. Besides the depth that already was present in the drawings, the light enters through the holes, the drawings get exiting shadows, create space and a new playfulness.'
