There is a worldwide shortage of personal protective materials for healthcare professionals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A new reusable face mask for medical staff who are caring for and treating COVID-19 patients has been developed in the Netherlands by a consortium of companies (multinationals and SME's), specialists and universities all supporting on a not-for-profit basis. This design may help solve the global shortage of face masks and improve safety for healthcare professionals, especially during intensive care and anesthesiological procedures where the risk of infection is highest. The mask uses a unique 3D printed connector to link a popular snorkel mask to a filter system. This filter system uses an industrial fan & filter unit to provide filtered air in the mask. The Air-Wave.org Protector is a personal protection unit for use of longer duration.
