Over ABS Focal Point - the Netherlands

The National Focal Point (NFP) on Access and Benefit-Sharing (ABS) of the Netherlands (in short: ABS Focal Point) provides information on ABS legislation, rules and procedures applying to genetic resources. The ABS Focal Point is operated by the Centre for Genetic Resources, the Netherlands (CGN).

Access and Benefit-Sharing refers to the international and national regulation of access to and use of genetic resources and/or traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources, and the sharing of benefits stemming from this use between providers and users.

The ABS Focal Point website provides guidance for access to genetic resources from the Netherlands and abroad, gives background information on international ABS legislation and Dutch policy, has an extensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section and contains an ABS help tool aiming to help you determine if your activities are in scope of the EU ABS Regulation.

To help you to remain up to date on ABS developments, we send out an ABS newsletter every other month. Upon request, we give presentations on the Nagoya Protocol, the EU ABS Regulation and the consequences for users of genetic resources.
