5thPosition is a collection of swimwear inspired by the strong and graceful silhouettes of dancers. All products are made in hand with fabrics made of plastic wastes collected from oceans. Named after the most advance and last beginning position of ballet, Istanbul and Amsterdam based brand aims to create silhouettes like dancers’ suits in which women can live all day and move freely. Born as the daughter of a ballet dancer, the founder of the brand Buse Uğur, has started dancing at a very early age. Buse started her dance education in classical ballet, but her free spirit led her to continue with contemporary dance. It was during these years when she first designed and sewed her very own dance suits. Using them as swimwear on beaches, she created her own fan base which eventually inspired the initial idea of the brand.

In 2014, the first lookbook of the brand was shot with model Ezgi Bozkurt. Also a product designer and interior architectural designer, Ezgi fell in love with the idea of using dance as an inspiration for beachwear and became a good supporter and friend of Buse. This friendship lead to a partnership by the end of 2014. On March 2015, the fellow duo launched their first collection with a runway show on Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Istanbul.

On its fourth season, 5thPosition swimwear is available on selected boutiques and stores worldwide. The brand is well-known and respected with a strong following, launched two seasons during MBFWI.
